My roommate and I are beginning to install his J&S in his turbo ITR. We have a question about the sensor that is screwed into the block. The instructions claim to screw it into the front of the block while we seem to recall it is the back of the block. Can anyone confirm this? Please recommend where to screw it in as well. Thanks for your help. I'll post his plots once we get him up and running!

Replacing one of the bolts that holds the header support bracket to the back of the block is a good place. It's far enough away from the valves so the J&S doesn't hear them too much.

don't forget to let me know wuzup with that turbocharged R, hopefully i'll be able to check it out.
I'm going with the drag III also, with hondata instead of the j&S, possibly the j&S classic for some saftey insurance.
Rstor, how much is he going to be boosting, and what kind of boost controller does Cliff have?

The stock knock sensor is so close to the valves that valve noise sets off the J&S and you have to turn the sensitivity way down.
I think?

Thanks for all the replies guys! We'll try the lower bracket location.
Jason~
The turbo install is done! Cliff turned the car over this weekend and it idled fine. We're installing his J&S (Classic), Fuel Pressure guage, Boost guage, and Oil Temp gauge currently. Neither of us are electronically astute though, so it may take us more time.
He plans to run 6 psi and is using an XS manual boost controller at the moment. I'll let you know when things are going good.

Holden, I wish I could see the code that the J&S runs. I would like to see just how they process the input from the stock knock sensor. One would think the sleeves resonating would be distinguishable from the valves chattering. Its probably not even that complicated though. The sensitivity adjustment is proably like a volume knob...
Sorry for these odd posts guys. I love taking stuff apart and seeing how it works. Who knows what will be under the screwdriver next.
